Hi. I’m Gordon, a retired Royal Australian Air Force Flight Lieutenant (Captain). Whilst in the Air Force, one of my ‘sideways learning’ assignments was to oversee a large number of what we used to call “Married Quarters” or military housing, some of which was located “On Base”, most of which was not.  It was here I cut my teeth on the not-so-glamorous side of the real estate industry – Property Management.

After my military life I travelled the World before getting into all sorts of different careers, occupations, past times and investments.

The buying, building, renovating, financing, selling and managing of residential real estate became an all consuming interest and I’ve gained a fair bit of knowledge and experience from many years exposure to the market.

It is this knowledge and experience that I hope to share through this blog.

Please, if you have any comments or questions, feel free to ask.

As a “former” fully licensed real estate agent in the State of Queensland, Australia, I was “available for hire” as a Buyers Agent, Speaker and Private Advisor but alas, no longer! (not that I mind at all) Good to be retired…

I am not affiliated with any real estate company, developer, builder or financier.  My opinions are my own.

What about the Commonwealth Games in 2018? Aren’t they going to buoy the Gold Coast market up, especially, with a lack of housing here?

    • The Commonwealth games is a short term event that, in reality has NO BEARING on a local housing market. Like most “Games” held around the World. especially large scale events like Commonwealth and Olympic Games, the only legacies are 1. greatly improved facilities for those who use them and 2. a huge debt for taxpayers that takes years to pay off. There is no published peer reviewed academic evidence that a Games increases, even momentarily, a local, State or National Housing market.
